Moet alle hengsten eens in b.v. Nederland testen.Citaat:STV Dressage Farms in Holland...Be careful if you buy from them!!!!! Posted by Concerned 13:53:01 04/16/2004
Of course everyone knows that the rule of thumb in this business is "buyer beware". It is up to the buyer to take all precautions necessary and available to ensure that they are buying a sound and healthy horse, as we all know that sellers are not forthcoming about any unsoundness or health issues in the horses they have for sale. If you end up with an unsound horse, "oh well"!!! It is unfortunate that this is the way because as a result, there is no trust out there, and at the end of the day, even a vetting, etc. does not tell all. But what happens when you buy in Euroope when you have to rely on the seller to provide all information, and organize all tests, etc.? Be careful. STV Dressage Farms in Holland does not conduct themselves in an honest fashion. They sold a well known stallion to a breeder in North America, and lied about his EVA status. I also have information that would suggest that fraud was committed when they purchased the stallion, and a false semen sample was sent in, resutling in a negative test result, when in fact, the stallion was, and still is a carrier. it is too bad there are no governing bodies, perhaps in conjunction with the registries to help protect the buyers. The only recourse is a law suit, which we all know that the only winners of those are the lawyers. Message is....some breeders/sellers will do anything to make a sale, and to make as much money as possible, and obviously, if that means lying and cheating, so be it. Be careful, and be present for all tests and vettings.

Meghan Re: STV Dressage Farms in Holland...Be careful if you buy from them!!!!! (Currently 0 replies) Posted 18:45:23 04/16/2004 no one should EVER trust an EVA test from Europe at this time. A seller may get the sample tested and in fact get a negative test because the testing process is flawed in many labs in the world. I would highly recccomend that anyone who is interested in getting accurate results for EVA - have your samples sent to University Of KY to Dr. Timoney. It is possible ( and easy enough) to have semen & serum sent from europe to KY on a special permit available from Dr. Timoney.
ISF learned about the flawed testing when we bought Contango. Tests from University of Utrect came back negative & samples sent to U of KY came back positive.
